NSK stands for ‘Nederlands Studenten Kampioenschap’ which can be translated to ‘Dutch Student Championship’. Every year, under the auspices of Student Sports Netherlands (SSN), NSK’s are organized in more than 50 branches of sport. In order to join these NSK’s you do not have to have a Dutch nationality, the only requirement is that you attend a Dutch University (of Applied Sciences).
No NSK is the same; there are small-scale NSK’s in branches of sport that are less known but also large multi-day and annually recurring NSK’s with 100+ participants where sports that are popular in the Netherlands and/or the Dutch student world are practiced at national level. The Great Dutch Student Championship (GNSK) that always takes place in a weekend in June and in which more than 1500 students participate, is an example of this. It is also becoming increasingly common that winning first price at a NSK is the ticket to the European Championships.
Check out the event calendar of SSN if you are curious about which NSK’s are going to take place in 2018/2019. Please contact email@example.com if you want to participate in one of the NSK’s that are coming up.
BRESS participates annually in the GNSK with some tennis players and a volleyball and basketball team. Ask the trainer(s) of these sports for more information and let them know when you are interested in participating. If there is enough enthusiasm to set up a team for another sport that is also practiced at the GNSK, we would like to hear from you so we can have a look at the possibilities.
