Zouk means ‘party’ in French Creole and it is a music genre from the French Antilles. The dance Zouk is just as cheerful as the music and it became popular in the 60’s on the Caribbean islands. Zouk also became popular in Brazil, but under the name of Kizomba. The dance offers room for variation and creativity and is very elegant because of the slow-quick-quick pace. The men lead and decide the order of the figures. The women make movements with their heads which results in their hair swaying through the air.
During the Zouk-lessons (given in PROOST! Breda) of Adam and Claudia of ZoukMotion Breda you learn the basic movements and different combinations. The men learn how to lead with feeling techniques and how to make use of the music. The women learn various styling-, cambré- and head movement techniques.
During the lessons you dance by yourself and with a partner. It is not needed to bring a partner to the lessons. Throughout the lesson you switch partners so you dance with everyone. Sign up quickly for a free trail lesson and join the dance!
